Photography & Film

Stock photography tells a visitor nothing about your business except that you did not photograph it. The gap between a site that uses real images of the actual place, the actual people and the actual product and one that does not is usually larger than any design decision on top of it.

The studio shoots on location across Greater Montréal and the West Island, and finishes the images in-house, which means the photography and the site it ends up on are directed by the same person.

What you get

Deliverables.

  1. 01

An edited set, not a card of raws

Selected, colour-corrected and retouched images delivered at web and print sizes. You get the finished work rather than a folder to sort through.

  2. 02

    Sized for where it runs

Crops prepared for the specific places the images are going: site hero, gallery, social, print. A single 3:2 frame does not survive being forced into all of them.

  3. 03

    People, space, product, detail

The four things a business page usually needs and rarely has all of: the team at work, the environment, what you sell, and the close detail that shows the standard.

  4. 04

    Motion where it earns it

Short vertical clips shot alongside the stills in the same session, so the video and the photography look like one body of work instead of two visits.

  5. 05

    Usage rights in writing

What you can use the images for, where, and for how long, stated in the agreement before the shoot rather than left to assumption.

Process

How a shoot runs

A call about what the images are for, then a shot list built from that, then the shoot itself, then the edit. The shot list matters more than the gear: it is the difference between a day that produces a set you can publish and a day that produces a lot of frames.

No published commercial set yet. The studio is booking shoots now, and this frame fills with real client work as it is shot and cleared.

Questions

Before you send a brief.

What areas do you travel to for a shoot?
Greater Montréal and the West Island as standard. Further is possible and gets quoted with travel included rather than hidden in the day rate.
How much does a commercial shoot cost?
It is quoted per project, not by the hour. Cost moves with location, how many days, how many subjects, how many finished images you need and what you are licensed to use them for. Describe the job and a real number comes back.
Can I book photography without a website project?
Yes. Photography is a standalone service. The combined format exists because the two are easier to coordinate together, not because you have to buy both.
Do we need to prepare anything before the shoot?
Usually: decide who is available and when, tidy the spaces being photographed, and have the products or materials ready. The shot list sent before the day says exactly what is needed, so nothing is discovered on site.
Do you have a portfolio of commercial photography?
Not a published one yet. The studio owns the camera, lenses and lighting and is taking bookings now, but the commercial photography work shown on this site will appear as it is shot and cleared with clients. Anything presented as client work here is client work.
Who owns the photographs?
The studio holds copyright as the photographer and licenses the images to you for the uses agreed in writing. If you need full transfer or exclusivity, say so in the brief and it gets priced.
